A New Head Spa Opens on Johnson Ferry Road, Built From a Founder's Own Hair-Loss Story

Willow River Head Spa opened at 2997 Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb this fall, built by a founder who started the business after her own stress-related hair thinning. Here's what the treatments actually involve and why it's worth knowing about if a client is moving to Marietta.

Willow River Head Spa opened at 2997 Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb this fall, with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce out for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 17. It's a business type that barely existed in metro Atlanta a couple of years ago: a dedicated head spa, built around scalp health rather than a standard wash-and-cut, run out of private treatment suites that feel closer to a med spa than a salon chair.

Founder Sara Lewis spent 20 years in retail leadership at Target and The Home Depot before opening it. The idea started about a year ago, during a stretch of stress that left her dealing with noticeable hair thinning. She tried the usual fixes first -- products, supplements, whatever the latest TikTok fix claimed to work -- before trying a head spa treatment for the first time and having her scalp examined under magnification. Seeing the actual condition of her scalp, instead of guessing from the hair growing out of it, changed how she approached the problem. She went on to complete scalp-care training and visit head spas around the country before building her own.

The treatments run through private suites, including a two-bed suite for couples or friends, and combine a magnified scalp analysis with aromatherapy, exfoliation, warm steam, a double-cleanse, and an upper body massage. The team includes master cosmetologists and a trichologist, which is a hair-and-scalp specialist, not something you'll find at a typical blowout bar. For clients dealing with thinning hair or a specific scalp issue, there's a Revive Hair Preservation Program built around a scalp-scanning device called Becon, which uses AI to measure 18 hair and scalp factors and track them over repeat visits, paired with red light therapy and high-frequency follicle treatments.

Pricing isn't published on the site -- treatments are quoted through the online booking system -- but the menu runs from a 45-minute Unwind ritual up to a nearly three-hour Retreat, on top of memberships, multi-visit packages, and gift cards. There's also a men's head spa with a beard detox option, and a kids' version, so it isn't positioned purely as a women's spa day.

This is the kind of thing that matters more to how a neighborhood actually lives day to day than it does to a market report. If you've got a client relocating to East Cobb who already budgets for self-care -- massage memberships, med spas, that category of spending -- this is one more real option sitting a few minutes off Johnson Ferry Road, not just a line item on a demographics sheet.

If a client asks what's new worth knowing near the Johnson Ferry corridor, this is a clean answer: a legitimate scalp-health spa with real credentials behind it, not a gimmick. Booking the shortest single ritual first is the low-commitment way to try it before anyone commits to a membership.
